Pakistan: 94% of teachers lack English skills

Ninety-four per cent of Pakistan’s primary and middle school teachers lack the necessary English language skills needed for providing a quality education in English, due to what a report from the British Council’s Punjab Education and English Language Initiative (PEELI) calls a lack of "buy-in" to the government's policy to expand and improve English medium education.

Pakistan kickstarts Knowledge City

After a long series of delays, Pakistan is edging closer to building its 705 acre knowledge city, an “interactive area for universities, research institutions and the IT industry,” that will be modelled on Dubai's Knowledge Village. Punjab's current Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is set to invest in land and human resources as well as invite international universities to partner with it.
