Sri Lanka reiterates goal to become edu hub

Sri Lanka says it still aims to become an international education hub by 2020, despite signs earlier this year that the plans had stalled. The Higher Education Ministry said last month that it wanted attract more foreign branch campuses as well as convert local universities into world class universities.

Kuwait to give 4,500 study abroad scholarships

Kuwait's ministry of higher education is to give Kuwaiti students 4,500 scholarships to study abroad in 2013-14. The scheme is designed to improve Kuwaiti human capital with awardees studying majors that accord with labour market needs. The awards can be used at top universities in 13 countries, although details of these are yet to be published.
