TUI: new language camps in Alps

German travel and education giant TUI will launch a series of juniors camps across the French Alps this summer. Delivered through the new brand Peak Horizons, the programmes will focus on language, sports, activities and young entrepreneurship skills, with activities often combined. The camps are aimed at British and international students aged 10-17.

TUI's new brand Peak Horizon will run a range of summer camps in the Alps to hone language, sports and other skills

“There is no subject that can’t be perfectly illustrated or reinforced within such a stunning mountain setting"

Joe Lynch, Director at Peak Horizons said: “There is no course, subject or development area that can’t be perfectly illustrated or reinforced within such a stunning mountain setting.

“After a Peak Horizon camp you will go home more confident, with a network of new close friends from around the world and the inspiration to excel at your next sporting, educational or career challenge.”

The programmes aim to tap growing parental desire for supplementary education – a means of preparing children for an evermore competitive job market. Courting rising demand for bilingualism, the language camp offers 15 hours of French per week combined with group activities such as local excursions, white-water rafting and summer skiing.

The Young Entrepreneur Camp meanwhile will offer 15-17 year olds the chance to gain CV-bolstering business know-how through workshops and sessions with guest speakers.

“We’ve been delighted with the response and support we have received from everyone who has seen this new innovative product,” said Lynch. “The main booking period will be in spring and with such a positive reaction from the market, we are expecting excellent levels of take up.”

Lynch said the company, which was set up in January, was for now focused on its Alps camps but would look to expand over time. “We would love to see the range of camp themes and locations increased,” he said.

TUI is also active in the international education sector through its acquisition of English language schools in the UK, which are now rebranded under the English Language Centre (ELC) brand since last year, when the company acquired English Language Centre York.
