New school in Malta; industry posts 18% rise

ACE English Malta, a new English language learning school located in the continental cradle of English language learning, has opened with a bang, hosting a glitzy party at new two-storey premises in Malta.

Foreign student numbers in Malta to learn English were up by 18.2% in 2012

Government ministers were among the guests and the school opening has coincided with a pledge from Education Minister, Evarist Bartolo, that visas for non-EU students could become easier to attain, according to the Malta Independent.

The new language school, which has 26 classrooms and modern interactive whiteboard technology, is owned by Keith Zammit, a veteran of the industry in Malta, which is one of the most successful countries in the world in ELT when international student numbers are considered on a per capita basis.

Latest figures from the National Statistics Office indicate that foreign student numbers in Malta to learn English were up by 18.2% in 2012, with almost two-thirds of students coming from five countries: Italy, Germany, Russia, France and Spain.

ACE English Malta sees itself as a boutique school that places an emphasis on human interaction as well as technological innovation.

“From the first day of class only English is used in our animated and enjoyable interactive sessions,” explained Owner and Director, Keith Zammit, who heads up a management team along with Alex Fenech, previously of Clubclass Language Schools.
