The UK’s “second city”, Manchester, has a rich cultural heritage, a vibrant music scene and a buzzing nightlife, the company explained to its partner agencies around the world.
Opening in May, the new school will be in the heart of the city centre, a minute’s walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station.
“We believe this thriving urban destination will provide a unique learning environment for international students to pursue many opportunities in their careers and further education,” said Michelle Falzon, EC’s Director of Operations for Europe and South Africa.
The school will have nine classrooms, 16 computers, and 8 tablets available at reception and a large reception/student lounge. EC is also promising custom-built design features never before seen in an EC school.
Unlike Cambridge, Oxford, Bournemouth and Brighton, all of which are hubs for ELT students in the UK, Manchester is better known as a draw for domestic UK students, attending University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University as well as University of Salford, Manchester or many flourishing local colleges.
Executive Chairman of EC, Andrew Mangion, commented, “We are constantly working to respond to the needs and wants of our agents and students, and there is always demand for more EC schools in the UK.”
EC also has schools in London (two), Oxford, Bristol, Cambridge and Brighton.
