EC grows US operations with two new schools

Global ELT chain, EC English Language Centres, is gathering pace in its US expansion, as two new schools, due to open in January, will bring its total number of schools in the States to nine. The company has said the US is now its “primary destination country”.

SUNY Oswego, due to open in January, will be EC's second on campus centre.

“We are opening our second on-campus school in response to the growing international demand for higher education in English-speaking countries, particularly the US"

EC will open a boutique style school in the centre of Washington DC and another school on campus at Oswego, part of the State University of New York (SUNY).

SUNY Oswego, will be EC’s second on campus centre, following its SUNY Fredonia school, which opened this summer.

“Ongoing dialogue with our partners and students has informed our latest investment decisions, and we are delighted to now be able to offer two new locations in what has become our primary destination country,” said EC’s Executive Chairman, Andrew Mangion.

He added that the on-campus centre will meet  “growing international demand for higher education in English-speaking countries, particularly the US, which is home to some of the best universities in the world.”

According to EC,  students at the SUNY Oswego campus will be immersed in university life, learning alongside American and international students, with access to various workshops, events and state-of-the-art language learning facilities.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course, tailored to meet the needs of international students seeking higher education in the US, will also be offered to students at both centres.

EC currently has 21 schools in Canada, the US, the UK and South Africa with plans to expand further in English-speaking countries.
