CIBT signs deal for TV teaching in China

CIBT Education Group has announced that it has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Hunan Radio and Television University (HUTVU).

HUTVU teaches its students through radio and television

According to the announcement, the two companies will work together to “offer hotel and tourism management programmes through CIBT Group’s Global Learning Network (GLN).”

Programs will include “English training for the hotel industry, a Hotel Tourism Management programme leading to overseas employment, and other travel and hotel management programmes”.

The plan is for HUTVU to market the courses, recruit the students and provide the campus and facilities, whilst CIBT will provide the teachers, help with the marketing and create the curriculum.

HUTVU, part of the Open University of China, teaches its students through radio and television. As such, CIBT’s teachers will be giving their lessons from studios in Beijing and Vancouver, which will be received by students in HUTVU’s campus in Hunan Province, China.

This MOU is part of CIBT’s mission statement to “[deliver] western education to emerging Asia”. Aside from GLN, CIBT has a number of other subsidiaries, including Sprott-Shaw Community College, King George International College, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute and Global Career Centre.

The group, based in Canada, has extended across Asia with over 70 locations in 18 countries.
