Cambridge English tops 1m Facebook fans

Cambridge English Language Assessment’s Facebook page has attracted more than a million fans, signalling the brand’s growing impact on social media users.

The Cambridge English Facebook page connects English learners around the world

It ranks seventh in the world in the education category on Quintly

Launched two years ago, the page offers daily tips and advice on learning English as well as a range of learning activities. It has quickly built a following and ranks seventh most popular education site in the world on the social media ranking service Quintly.

“It’s all about putting learners in touch with each other”

“It’s all about putting learners in touch with each other,” said Vivian Chiang, marketing communications manager at Cambridge also citing the page’s “safe” user environment.

“The nicest thing about the page is the way our followers help and encourage each other, and their feedback shows that they really value the experience because it makes them feel good about English,” she added.

In addition to connecting users, the Facebook page invites learners to take part in quizzes and receive English learning and exam tips. Users’ achievements are also celebrated on the site.

Cambridge English Language Assessment, which is a subsidiary of Cambridge University, says it offers a suite of other social media resources including online games and videos. These all draw on research from the European Commission that shows learners do best when they integrate English into daily life rather than viewing it as a standalone subject.
