Bright Scholar to acquire equity in Start Camp

International K-12 operator in China Bright Scholar has announced it has entered into agreements to acquire 25% equity interest in Start Camp Education. The company targets to close the transaction in May 2019.

Start Camp provides a one-stop solution in camp layout and program design for the education department of local governments, education groups, and real estate developers. It has completed 17 education camp design projects in 11 provinces in China.

As of December 2018, Bright Scholar operated 68 schools covering the breadth of K-12 academic needs of its students across eight provinces in China. In the first three months of the 2019 school year, Bright Scholar had an average of 41,423 students enrolled at its schools.

Executive vice chairman of Bright Scholar, Jerry He, said the company aims to provide all-around quality education to students and become a major provider of outdoor camp education.

“Our first lakeside camp, which was designed by Start Camp, opened in January 2019 in HuizhouGuangdong province. The lakeside camp covers a total land area of about 16 acres and a lake area of 74 acres and can provide various outdoor activities to students.

“The investment in Start Camp…will accelerate the growth of our outdoor camp education services,” he added.
