BETA presents 7th annual Youth Travel Awards

The 7th annual British Youth Travel Awards recognised excellence among companies and organisations in the youth travel industry to, from and within the UK at a ceremony in London last week.

Germany was named the Best International Youth Destination Winner

Accolades were given in categories including Best Accommodation, Best Educational Product and Best Use of Social Media at the event hosted by English gold medalist Sophie Hosking.

Germany was named the Best International Youth Destination Winner while Scotland received the Best UK Youth Destination winner.

Organisers, the British Education Travel Association (BETA) said they were impressed with the quality and amount of this year’s nominations.

“We were delighted to see a big increase in nominations this year, and were all very impressed with the high standards and competition”

Oxford Royale Academy won the Best Educational Product Category and Clink78 hostel took home the award for Best Accommodation.

Companies and invidious nominate themselves for the awards. The entries in each category were scored against a set criteria and then the top three in each category was selected by an expert and impartial panel of judges.

Silver and bronze awards were also presented at the event.

“The calibre of entries was very impressive this year,” said Nate Bucholz, Head of Industry at Google UK and a judge. “It’s great to see these entrants setting the bar not just for youth travel, but for the UK travel industry in general.”
