Global Wales – a Partnership to promote International Higher education in Wales

The Welsh Government’s announcement of the brand new £65 million International Learning Exchange programme for Wales puts Wales and its global ambitions firmly on the map. The programme will provide funding for inward and outward mobilities for students and staff across a wide range of education settings and will be in operation from 2022-2026.

The announcement also includes a significant expansion of the Global Wales programme. Global Wales is an international higher education programme led by Universities Wales in partnership with Welsh Government, British Council Wales and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW).It aims to boost Wales’ profile as a study destination and partner of choice through presenting a joined-up view of our higher education system. In doing so the project contributes to the overall objectives of growing HE’s export contribution and boosting Wales’ profile internationally.

Why should you attend?

To celebrate Global Wales’ achievements thus far, and to discuss opportunities going forward under the new ILE, we are planning a virtual Global Wales Conference on July 6, 2021. This conference will bring together our high-profile international and domestic partners to discuss a wide range of thematic areas and to explore how international collaboration might evolve into the future for Wales, but for worldwide collaborations broadly, as well.

We welcome international educators, policy-creators, colleagues, and stakeholders to join the development process and conversations surrounding the current and forthcoming challenges and opportunities in international education.
