Why Vietnam?

  • The number of Vietnamese tertiary students studying abroad has increased significantly to 53,546 in 2013, up from 23,334 in 2006 according to UNESCO’s Institute for Statistics.
  • A 2012 WES report identified Vietnam as one of the top four emerging countries for international students recruitment. The report points out that 45% of the country’s population is under the age of 25.
  • With an increasing GDP per capita and an economy that is boosting household incomes, Vietnam is making study abroad more affordable for a greater proportion of families.
  • The Minister of Education Pham Vu Luan has shared his concerns that some local universities are producing graduates “who still cannot meet the requirements of employers, especially English and informatics knowledge” and according to researchers from Harvard Kennedy School, Vietnam’s higher education sector system is in “crisis”
