The new members include Live The Language (LTL) Mandarin School and CLIC Spanish Language schools in Seville and Cadiz and, most recently, five Global Village English Centres in Canada and the USA.

In order to receive accreditation, language schools must first be invited to apply by IALC’s Membership Committee, which selects schools based on research and the school’s reputation. They must then undergo regular inspections, prove meet minimum quality standards and subscribe to a code of ethics.

IALC president, Alexandra Borges de Sousa welcomed the newest arrivals: “IALC is a network of leading independent language schools and the Global Village schools are a perfect fit for us,” she said. “They have a great reputation and all passed our inspection with flying colours.”

Robin Adams, President and Managing Director at Global Village English Centres, told The PIE News: “We are very pleased to have been accepted by the prestigious IALC organisation and we are determined to continue to bring high quality academic experiences to students who attend our schools in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Victoria and Honolulu.”

“This recognition is especially rewarding in a year where we celebrate exciting milestones: 35^th Anniversary in Toronto and 25^th anniversary in Vancouver,” he added.

LTL’s Manager and Owner, Andreas Laimboeck, said that the school, which specialises in homestay and Chinese language ‘immersion’ courses, had been talking about joining IALC “for years”.

“Many of our agents have been telling us for years that we are a ‘typical IALC school’ and should join,” he said. “That was our motivation, to connect with other owner managed and personal service focused small and medium sized language schools  – and of course agents who are looking to work with schools like this.”
