The UK government has made Tier 4 visa rules far more flexible relating to new visa issuance, extensions and attendance reporting. Institutions will be able to "self-assess" for B1 level as long as they maintain records as to how they are doing so, part of temporary concessions.
Almost one in five applications for Tier 4 visas to study in the UK from Ghana were denied in 2019 – a considerably higher ratio than other sub-Saharan African countries.
The UK has expanded the list of nations from which student visa applicants will have to provide a "reduced level of documentation", but Indian misses out, angering stakeholders and officials.

In response to credibility interviews for international students rolled out by the UK Home Office, global higher education organisation INTO has produced a set of videos to help students prepare for what could be their first formal interview in English. Posted along side other pre-arrival videos online at INTO TV, to date they have received some 7,000 views.
