A scholarship fund will be set up in honour of Eddie Byers, the late Chief Executive of English UK, drawing on his passion for the life-changing power of education in students' lives. This was announced at a memorial service held in London.
Student weeks at private UK English language providers increased by only 1.03% in 2013, showing that expected growth after 2012's Olympic malaise hasn't happened yet. State sector providers fared slightly better, but the incoming CEO wants to focus on growth and new ways to engage directly with students.
Leading language teaching association English UK has said it is "delighted" to appoint global marketing expert and former Managing Director of the British Council's Programmes and Projects arm Eddie Byers its new Chief Executive. Byers will take up the post in May.
