UK to launch first outward mobility strategy

The British government is to launch its first ever national campaign to increase outbound student mobility, The PIE News can reveal. The Outward Student Mobility Programme, which will be run by Universities UK's International Unit, starts next month and will try to tackle Britain's historically low level of study abroad.

UK: new drive to increase education exports

The British government is to establish a new unit to help realise the "untapped" potential of the UK education exports industry. Education UK will coordinate efforts to win bids for all education sectors. The British Council underlined that BIS and UKTI would work alongside their significant work under their own Education UK brand.

UK MPs: “Remove students from migration”

A cross-party parliamentary report has called for international students to be removed from net migration figures, claiming the government’s policy of including them is damaging to the economy. It also calls for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to help the UK expand its share of the "lucrative" student market.

Pearson launches HE college, UK

Pearson, the education and media giant, is to launch a private higher education college in the UK next month, in a symbolic first step into the small but growing private higher education market. Its first courses will be industry-linked, "designed by business, delivered with business", but the college will not have degree-awarding powers...
