EUK runs mission to Scotland as minister backs post-study work

English UK welcomed education agents from across Europe to Scotland on its recent spring inward mission, soon after Scotland's External Affairs Minister spoke out in favour of plans to re-introduce the two-year Post-Study Work visa should Scotland gain independence. Six Scottish centres were showcased to the visiting agencies.

The Netherlands’ new minister of education, Jet Bussemaker, says she wants more international students to stay in the Netherlands after they graduate in a bid to tackle skills shortages and strengthen the country’s economy. Despite comparatively generous work rights most non-EU students return home straight after their studies.

Indian doc slams post-study work ops, Australia

A new documentary has criticised the lack of work opportunities for Indians in Australia after they graduate from Australian universities—raising questions over whether a recent extension to post-study work rights has gone far enough. The film follows a student who applies for more than 60 jobs without being asked to an interview.

Academics from one of Australia’s top 20 universities have warned the country could deter international students unless it improves access to post-study employment opportunities. The warning comes despite Australia introducing the most generous post-study work rights of any leading study destination last year.

US widens access to post-study work for STEM

Continuing its campaign to attract more of the best and brightest international students, the USA has expanded the list of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) degree programmes that qualify eligible graduates for extended post-study work experience, or "Optional Practical Training".
