US-based online study abroad platform, Go Overseas has launched a Language Schools programme, a new section of its website containing programme information and student reviews on schools across the world which also allows users to book courses directly.

Language schools do not pay to be listed on the site, however Go Overseas will take 10% commission of the total booking cost.

There are eight languages currently featured: Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Russian and Japanese and the company has so far had the most demand for Spanish and Chinese language programmes.

“The website currently features dozens of institutions, but the plan is to eventually list all language programmes in the world,” CEO Mitch Gordon told The PIE News.

“the plan is to eventually list all language programmes in the world”

“We’ve had great relationships with many language schools for years via the other sections of our site,” said Gordon. “For example, we’ve worked with Bridge to promote their Study Abroad and TEFL programmes. It’s a natural expansion for us to build on those trusted relationships.”

As well as being cost free for schools, Gordon said an added advantage of the platform is the student review system. “It’s a great way for language schools to differentiate themselves and establish online credibility.”

“We have definitely seen language immersion trips become more popular, particularly shorter term language programmes,” said Nadia Mubashar, Website Director at Go Overseas.

“From high school students to gap year students to working professionals traveling as a couple, immersive language programmes are attracting increasing interest across demographics,” she added.

Founded in 2010, Go Overseas has assisted almost three million people in finding a travel abroad programme and has around 600,000+ users a month.

The online directory contains information under teach abroad, study abroad, volunteer abroad, and intern abroad, including reviews, interviews, country guides and articles.
