German agency and publisher, flyOUT, has published its first multilingual app aimed at its client base that embark on an au pair experience overseas. The growing company decided to launch the app in German and English first, and because of a brisk take-up, a Spanish version of the app followed four weeks later.
“The app contains important tips on preparing for an au pair stay, country-specific information, an au pair dictionary, support for finding a host family and a checklist for departure,” explained Carmen Kurz at the agency.
She said the company decided on an app as it is so useful for travellers. It acts as a “how to” guide and contains numerous tips for daily au pair duties, notes on living with a host family and adapting to life in a foreign country, ideas for free time as well as advice on solving possible complications.
Part of the app (previewed on YouTube) is free, while to upgrade to the full app, there is a charge of €3.59.
Kurz explained that the au pair sector is evolving, with many would-be au pairs organising their actual placement themselves. “The au pair program is increasing worldwide,” she said. “But many participants organize the placement on their own on the internet. So the duties of the agencies change more and more towards offering additional services like counselling, travel advice, event management, entertainment.”
flyOUT offers a range of services as well as au pair stays, such as high school or internship programmes. Kurz says that New Zealand, Ireland and the UK are among the most popular destinations that they offer.
