One of Europe’s largest study abroad agencies, ESL, is expanding its reach further with eight new offices now open in 2012. The news means that the Montreux-based company now has 37 offices, operating in 13 countries – and it is opening in the UK for the first time with an office in central London.
Its other new offices are in Wintherthur, Switzerland; Verona, Italy; Valencia, Spain; Hamburg, Germany; Antwerp, Belgium; Amsterdam, Netherlands and – most interestingly, Noumea, New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean!
Krister Wiedenhielm, Head of Product Development and Purchase at ESL, said that Noumea was considered because of its proximity to Australia and New Zealand. A French territory, New Caledonia is only a two-hour flight from Australia, which means the possibility of inhabitants taking a language holiday break is very feasible.
ESL has offices in many European countries and also Panama and Colombia. Wiedenhielm recently took part in the English UK Marketing Conference, talking on The PIE plenary panel about the company’s future perspective on marketing and trends and its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility . The company has developed a self-assessment tool for partner schools to understand how their approach to sustainable development can be rated/improved.
ESL also operates French language schools and began life as Ecole Suisse de Langues (ESL) in 1996.
