Continuing its international expansion, global pathway provider Cambridge Education Group has launched a high school in Boston, USA, under the CATS college brand.

CATS Academy Boston, CEG’s first high school in the USA, will prepare international and US national students for degree study at America’s “most prestigious universities”, according to the company.

One of the UK’s “G5 pathway operators”, CEG had until recently restricted its operations to the UK, where it has various school and college brands and caters to 13,000 students each year. However in May it made its first foray into international markets with new university pathways in Boston and Amsterdam.

At the time CEO Fergus Brownlee told The PIE News: “We predict growth in our pathway and high school operations, and we will be working closely with our network of agents and key recruitment markets to identify the most suitable territories for new ventures”, suggesting a series of new partnerships were on the cards this year.

CEG said students at the Boston school would enjoy the same quality ethos offered by CATS’ Cambridge, London and Canterbury ventures, benefitting from “a rigorous academic preparation, unrivaled higher education support and exceptional pastoral care whilst within a traditional American high school environment”.

Students will study the US high school diploma with the opportunity to enhance their core curriculum through the study of Advance Placement  courses – an established route to accessing higher rank universities.

Coinciding with the launch, CATS College London was this week celebrating its latest progression rates and exam results. 77% of students were said to have achieved offers from THE top 30 universities, and 77% offers from Russell Group universities.

Of the students who had taken IGCSEs, AS or A-level exams, 74% achieved A or B grades, and 100% achieved A*-C grades in psychology, sociology, history and information and communications technology.
