The UK’s Association of Business Schools (ABS) has announced it has reached its largest membership roll since it was founded in 1992, in part due to a push to attract more foreign members. “ABS is working hard to deliver on its new strategic plan – this is being reflected by new home, international and corporate members joining the fold,” Vicky Robinson, director of communications, told The PIE News.

The organisation has 117 full UK-based members but has expanded its reciprocal membership to include the Association of African Business Schools, French Foundation for Management Education (FNEGE) and Baltic Management Development Association.

ABS says “new home, international and corporate members” are joining the fold

Most recently it welcomed the Institute of Management Studies at Goldsmiths University London to its roster of full members, reflecting an invigorated commitment to work with UK universities as well. Engagement with business is also on the up.

“We are delighted to welcome Goldsmiths as a new member,” said CEO Paul Marshall. “This is an exciting time for us, as the association is welcoming more members from across the higher education sector, including UK business schools, international schools and corporate members.”

International students account for more than 25% of the student population at business schools in the UK, while 86% of all those studying an MBA come from abroad, according to the Financial Times’ Global MBA Rankings.
