Oxford Brookes University has announced it will extend its engagement in Sri Lanka with a new partnership with vocational and tertiary provider British College of Applied Studies to deliver degree programs.
With more than 3,500 students at its campuses across Sri Lanka, BCAS specialises in courses spanning from engineering to management to construction. Through the new partnership, it will continue to add a range of undergraduate top up programs.
“Sri Lanka has a broad vision and is open to quality global partnerships”
“Oxford Brookes is proud to partner with institutions of excellence around the world, tackling the challenges of modern society together,” Alistair Fitt, vice-chancellor of Oxford Brookes University said in a statement.
“Sri Lanka is an important location both within the growing education hub of South Asia and in the wider region. Our internationally recognised teaching quality continues to inspire exceptional, ambitious graduates who pursue important and meaningful careers,” he added.
“We hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship, which will be of benefit both to our institutions and to Sri Lanka. We wish our students in Sri Lanka every success and look forward to guiding them on their journey.”
Chief executive officer of BCAS, Khemantha Eranga Weeramanthri, said its “newest and most exciting partnership” is with an institution that “has a tradition of preparing employment-ready graduates for the professional world”.
“Having access to contemporary programs of study which are relevant to local and international job markets, BCAS can produce job-ready, effective graduates to industry and commerce,” he highlighted.
“We are so proud to deliver top up degrees in Biomedical Science, Quantity Surveying, Nursing and Law, in collaboration with Oxford Brookes.
“On the path to becoming an education hub in the region, Sri Lanka has a broad vision and is open to quality global partnerships. It’s BCAS’ pleasure to bring Oxford Brookes University on board to facilitate that vision.”
Oxford Brookes has developed teaching partnerships in more than 13 countries.
