According to a statement released by the Home Office, the university has been removed from the government’s register of licensed sponsors for students and has 20 working days to respond to the decision. If it cannot demonstrate that its licence should be reinstated, the licence will be revoked.
Current international students sponsored by the university can continue their studies while the suspension is in place, provided their immigration permission remains valid, the Home Office clarified.
The UK higher education provider based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, hosted 1,530 international students in 2024/25, according to the latest HESA data.
The suspension does not affect domestic students or those studying under other types of immigration permission that do not require sponsorship.
The university’s Worker and Temporary Worker sponsor licences are not affected.
