The move recognises her outstanding contribution to Malaysia’s music scene, with Siti Nurhaliza binti Tarudin’s monumentrally successful career landing her with the moniker “the voice of Asia”.
Speaking exclusively to The PIE News at the awarding ceremony at Sunway University, Siti spoke about the importance of championing the creative arts in Malaysia.
She said she was “very honoured” to receive the award and that the institution had recognised the media and creative industries, giving it equal importance compared to other industries.

In a message to graduating Sunway students, she encouraged them to continuously challenge themselves, ‘because the real lesson is not here at the graduation, but out there in the real world”.
Meanwhile, Sunway University emphasised Siti’s “inspiring” career in the arts. She has recorded songs in several languages including Malay, Arabic, Mandarin and Japanese.
