Study Group will open its second pathway programme in the Netherlands later this year, offering university preparation for international students on campus at the University of Groningen.

Study Group’s International Study Center at Groningen, which will open in September 2016, will provide an on-campus international foundation year in science and engineering, after which students can progress to a degree at the university.

“The University of Groningen is ranked in the top 100 universities in the world and has a strong international focus, making it an ideal partner”

In its second year, it will also offer progression to Hanze University of Applied Sciences.

The expansion into the Netherlands was prompted by the success of Study Group’s pathway centre in Amsterdam, which prepares international students for study at 11 university partners across the country, including Groningen.

Enrolment at the Amsterdam centre has grown to just under 200 students since its opening in 2013.

The ISC in Groningen will welcome its first cohort of around 60 students this September, with capacity for 200 students in its second year of operation.

As of September 2017, all students interested in progressing to the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences will study at the Groningen centre.

Arnold Persoon said Study Group was keen to partner with the University of Groningen because of its international focus and “extensive” course offering, including 10 fully English-taught bachelor’s degrees in science and engineering.

“The University of Groningen is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands, and has a world-class reputation for academic teaching and research,” he commented.

“It is ranked in the top 100 universities in the world and has a strong international focus, making it an ideal partner for Study Group.”
