Leading Italian language provider StudioItalia is capitialising on the demand to learn about Italy’s fashion industry by opening its second school in Milan this month.

The centre will have the capacity for around 1,000 students and in addition to traditional language classes will offer culture-specific courses such as Italian cooking classes, Italian cinema and custom-made interior design features inspired by the cultural uniqueness of the city.

“The increasing demand of Italian has caused this expansion,” Director, Department of Italian Language and Culture at StudioItalia Fabio Boccio told The PIE News.

“Because of the development of certain Italian brands and industries Italian is more and more trendy”

“We have decided to offer a new opportunity in a great city as Milan, centre for fashion and design, a unique learning environment for international students who want to learn our language and the multi-faceted aspects of its culture.”

The Italian language market has experienced a two-year plateau following years of growth according to Boccio, but he said it is emerging again due to the rise of a number of Italian brand and industries, such as the wine, fashion and architecture industries.

“Because of the development of certain Italian brands and industries Italian is more and more trendy and it’s replacing French as the next beautiful and musical language,” he commented.

The company will target students with a passion for fashion and art from emerging markets including Japan, Turkey and Russia.

Since 1985, StudioItalia has operated its original centre in Rome hosting up to 1,000 students annually.

Boccio said in its first year the Milan school is expected to receive around 500 students with aims to double enrolment in coming years to put the school on par with the Rome centre.
