Sprachcaffe, a Frankfurt-based language school with branches in 12 countries, will open a new school in Munich next month answering to increased demand from students to prepare for university study in Germany and adult language courses. With the new addition, the company now operates 26 schools.

The new German language school will offer only adult programmes in its first year, but may branch into teaching juniors and groups in 2017.

“Lots of long-term students are coming to Germany because of the higher education. German universities have got a wonderful reputation around the world”

It aims to enrol around 100 students within the first few weeks of opening its doors on February 29.

“Our schools are doing very well in German, and that’s why we decided to go for a new destination,” Alberto Sarno, Sprachcaffe’s CEO, told The PIE News.

He said that increasing demand for tertiary-level study in Germany is among the factors driving demand for language courses, as students come to prepare themselves to learn in a German-immersion environment.

“Lots of long-term students are coming to Germany because of the higher education,” he explained. “German universities have got a wonderful reputation around the world, especially in Asia, some parts of Europe, and South America.”

As a result, the school will offer a university pathway course preparing students for the mandatory higher education entrance exam, as well as standard, intensive, and one-to-one language courses.

The school is expecting to see particular interest from Eastern Europe, Japan and Korea during the winter months, and from Spain, Italy and France during the summer.

According to Sarno, the city will also be a big draw for students.

“Munich is a great place because of the high standard of life and also the location, close to the Alps, Austria, the Lakes; also Italy’s just over the border, and it’s well connected,” he said.

The Munich school will be Sprachcaffe’s second German branch, along with its flagship school in Frankfurt. It also has branches in Spain, France, Italy, the UK, the US, Canada, China, Morocco, Cuba, Mexico and Malta.
