Fintech provider Euro Asia Pay will integrate Cohort Go to expand its signature SideKick Card product to 187 new countries.
The partnership means that students from a total of 241 countries will be able to use the service in Canada, and it will allow card users to access the “most competitive international exchange rates”.
Additionally, domestic transfer options will be introduced to 26 new countries meaning users can bypass international banking systems, eliminate payment delays and receive their money faster.
SideKick launched in Canada in 2020.
“Incorporating Cohort Go’s services into the SideKick Card platform represents a significant step towards expanding our key markets in target countries that chose Canada for educational opportunities, therefore increasing our user acquisition,” said Peter MacKay, EAP’s CEO.

Feedback has shown that many educational agencies and institutions had expressed difficulty understanding and executing international bank wire transfers for clients, he continued.
Through the agreement, students in South Korea, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Turkey can now be supported.
“We are happy to support these international students and their families with our mobile platform giving them a better option to pay for their living expenses while in Canada,” MacKay added.
Faster international payment processing will enhance customers’ daily operations and free up resources and time for agencies to focus on the student experience, the partners suggested.
“Through our partnership with Euro Asia Pay, we have combined our shared expertise to set new standards for easy personal finance and education-related transactions,” said Glenn Bedford, global head of sales at Cohort Go.
“More service providers catering to international education will also benefit from our unique technology and expand their marketplace. Together, we are addressing evolving needs in the global education sector.”
