A new scholarship programme has been launched to help fund rural community development internships in Uganda.
The Warren Campbell Memorial Scholarship programme, which is jointly run by the International Service Learning Alliance and the Foundation for Community Development and Empowerment, will award 15 students with scholarships toward internships in Uganda.

There will be five full $4,000 scholarships and 10 partial scholarships providing $2,000 of funding.
The internships will cover various areas of work including social justice, small business development, education and women’s empowerment.
Jenny Sowry, international operations manager at FCDE/isla, said the internships in Uganda allow the students to bring lasting change to the communities.
“The scholarship provides resources to students who are not able to afford the opportunity to provide this change,” she told The PIE News.
“And the internship arm, isla, is providing the impetus to make a lasting impact in communities the interns serve, while also bringing a change in the intern’s career and life as well.”
Students from all over the world can apply for the Warren Campbell Memorial Scholarship.
“This is just the beginning of a prestigious scholarship award,” said Sowry. “It is our intention to continue the scholarship awards and recruiting students who are change agents in the sustainable development field.”
