QS, the education solutions company best known for its world university rankings, has officially entered the global student recruitment market by partnering with one of India’s largest test preparation companies.

The QS Advance service, soft launched last year, will team with Manya Education Group, which prepares 14,000 students annually for higher education admissions tests, as well as placing around 2,000 students through its own recruitment service. The companies will look to place Indian students in universities and other institutions worldwide.

“QS is a globally recognised brand with excellent contacts with the international student market,” QS Vice-President John Molony told the PIE News. “Manya are 10 years old and have 24 offices with very experienced counselors right across India. So I think that we’re very well positioned to work together.”

Molony said it would be the first partnership of many through the QS Advance service, a newly launched service that hopes to provide universities worldwide with “pre-screened, quality applicants that are ready and able to enrol”; as well as additional information online for selected candidates.

The company said it would seek to partner with the largest and most respected recruitment agencies in a given country. “We’ve already seen strong interest from Australia and New Zealand,” Molony said.

It also plans to develop a focused marketing, recruitment and counseling service in the UK, and will run a series of recruitment fairs this month in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol to cater to growing interest in British students abroad.

The Manya partnership hopes to leverage both QS and Manya’s reach with universities, students and parents, while offering universities a “quality seal” when recruiting internationally. Molony said he had not set expectations on student volumes and was pursuing a quality over quantity approach.

“We’re taking things steadily. We’re continuing to run our events and offering an integrated end-to-end service for our clients. But we’re not rushing into it either. We’re bringing [new clients] on board at a steady rate,” he said.

Founded in 1990, QS provides specialist higher education and careers information and solutions for more than 2,000 higher education institutions worldwide, covering areas such as IT, marketing and conferences. It already provides admissions solutions for HEI’s through its TopApply software.
