The UK’s Oxford Brookes has expanded its partnership with Metropolitan College Greece and will now deliver five more courses in both Athens and Thessaloniki.
New postgraduate courses include architecture, entrepreneurship, medical genetics, real estate investment and creative writing.
“These new courses meet the demand in Greece for a skilled workforce”
The partnership between the two institutions launched in 2019 with six initial undergraduate and postgraduate courses in subjects including accounting, allied health, hospitality and technology.
“These new courses meet the demand in Greece for a skilled workforce in areas such as building, real estate and property, and contribute to expanding access to Higher Education in Greece,” said Alistair Fitt, vice-chancellor of Oxford Brookes.
“Our creative writing and genetics courses, for example, offer a unique opportunity to study these subjects at postgraduate level in Greece.”
Dinos Arcoumanis, chairperson of the Academic Board at Metropolitan College, Greece said that the partnership will strengthen Metropolitan College’s position as the “leading provider” of TNE education in Greece.
“The strengthening of our partnership with Oxford Brookes University, through the delivery by Metropolitan College of five new postgraduate programs as part of the ongoing strategic plan between the two institutions, comes at a critical time when there is uncertainty about the extent of the pandemic and its impact on the global and national economies,” Arcoumanis said.
“Despite the prevailing difficult atmosphere, a significant number of young Greeks have already enrolled in the new Oxford Brookes programs encouraged by the very successful launch of the partnership last year, the outstanding reputation of Oxford Brookes University in Greece and the market relevance and subject diversity of the new courses,” he added.
In the UK, more than 1,000 students from Greece have now graduated from Oxford Brookes programs based at the University’s Oxford campus.
“Whether students come to Oxford or choose to study in Greece with our partner Metropolitan College, they become part of our global community for life and many remain closely connected after they graduate through our Greece Alumni Group,” said Fitt.
