Mercy College in New York has selected Oxford International Education Group as its new pathway provider, with the company also providing direct student recruitment opportunities.

As part of the partnership, OIEG will operate English language courses and provide academic and cultural support for Mercy College’s new International Pathway Program, Mercy College International.

“We’re delighted to be working with Mercy College to help prospective students begin their studies smoothly, ahead of an enriching university experience in New York City, one of the world’s most exciting cities,” said Sharon Curl, managing director, North America at OIEG.

“The creation of Mercy College International, in collaboration with OIEG, marks an exciting time for Mercy,” Adam Castro, VP of enrolment management in Mercy College, added.

“The partnership exposes Mercy students to diverse perspectives, provides international students an exciting location in which to study, and furthers Mercy’s mission of transforming lives through higher education.

“Moreover, this partnership prepares students to succeed in the latest job market, in a world which is becoming increasingly globalised.”

Oxford International’s New York City English Language School will also be relocated to Mercy College’s Manhattan campus as part of the partnership.

OIEG’s first intake to Mercy College is expected for summer 2023, pending approval of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program by the Department of Homeland Security.

“As we continue to grow our portfolio, we constantly look to deliver greater opportunities for our students and higher education partners alike,” Curl added.

This is OIEG’s second partnership of its kind in North America.

OIEG and San Francisco State University partnered in 2021 to develop a pathway program. SF State welcomed its first cohort in January 2022.

The company launched its Education Services division at the end of 2021, which will assist Mercy College with international recruitment and admissions.

The network of recruitment professionals across 38 locations will provide day-to-day support and infrastructure, focusing on recruitment, compliance, and conversion to enable the institution to “offer an excellent student experience while maintaining robust quality standards”, the partners added.
