Oxford International Education Group has announced it will be setting up a new college with Bangor University for international students, offering added tuition, language and study skills before they complete their degree at the university.

Catering for those on both bachelor’s and master’s level courses, Bangor International College will be located on the campus of Bangor University, in north Wales.

The 10-year partnership is expected to double the university’s international student intake over a period of four to five years.

BIC will offer integrated programmes for students to begin their studies either taking an international incorporated bachelor’s or master’s degree.

“With research informing our teaching and over three-quarters of our research rated as either ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’, students can be assured that studying at Bangor University through this partnership will have access to the best of UK higher education,” said John Hughes, vice-chancellor of Bangor University.

The college is expecting to see around 50 students enrol in its first intake in September.

“We strongly believe that our partnership will allow more bright, motivated students to join the Bangor community,” said David Brown, joint-CEO of Oxford International. “And through their success we can enhance the university’s global reputation.”

This marks the third partnership of its kind for Oxford International Education Group. The company’s portfolio includes the previously established Leicester International Pathway College in 2013, in collaboration with De Montfort University and Canterbury Christ Church University International Pathway College, set up last year.
