Nord Anglia Education, one of the largest international school providers, will acquire six schools from Meritas later on this year, it has been announced. Of the schools to be acquired, three are based in the US and one in Mexico as well as one based in Switzerland and another in China.
The acquisition is from Meritas, a global family of schools which currently has ten schools across three continents.
Leman Manhattan Preparatory School has also been announced as an affiliate school of the provider.
The acquisition will bring Nord Anglia Education’s number of schools to 41 across 15 different countries
CEO of Nord Anglia Education, Andrew Fitzmaurice, told The PIE News the acquisition will enhance the company’s position as the world’s leading premium schools organisation.
He added that through the deal, Nord Anglia will offer the American curriculum for the first time, “allowing us to offer more families the opportunity to access high quality education in the curriculum of their choice.”
The six schools to be acquired currently educate 8,600 students combined.
By joining Nord Anglia Education, they will have access to resources to enhance their teaching and learning. In addition, the teachers will have access to the personal development platform, Nord Anglia University.
The acquired schools will also form a part of the group’s “global classroom” initiative, which connects the students in Nord Anglia Education’s network, enabling them to learn together.
“Our students may be based in one country,” said Fitzmaurice. “But they will regularly interact with students in 13 others, helping them to develop a truly global perspective.”
This acquisition will bring Nord Anglia Education’s number of schools to 41 across 15 different countries, teaching a total of 32,300 students.
