International House (IH) Sydney in Australia has a new owner, in the shape of Tim Eckenfels, who has worked in the industry for nearly 20 years. He acquired the school from previous owners, Julie Styles and Leonie Greenwood, at the end of June.
Eckenfels has worked for Aspect, Ability Education and Study Group, as well as IH Sydney where he is currently MD. He was previously CEO of Ability Education.
The US-born industry veteran has a grand plan for the successful English language teaching school, which operates as part of the International House World Organisation (IHWO).
“My vision for the school is to offer new and innovative courses, both in the Teacher Training and English language departments of the company,” explained Eckenfels, adding that he was also eyeing expansion: “I am also seeking new opportunities to expand the company both in Australia and overseas.”
Ih Sydney has a 30-year history and classroom sites in Manly (northern Sydney) and central Sydney. “The success of the company is dependent on the continued support and dedication by our agents and partners,” added Eckenfels. “I look forward to working closely with all of you on this exciting new venture.”
