Education organisation and pathway provider, NCUK, has established a partnership with sixth form college, Mander Portman Woodward, to provide a pathway programme for international students transitioning into UK degree programmes.

NCUK will be teaching its International Foundation Year programme at MPW’s college campus in Birmingham.

The programme will begin in September and feature academic study as well as English language training.

“There is such a variety of foundation programmes in the market”

Students who complete the foundation year will be guaranteed a space at one of NCUK’s member universities including the University of Sheffield, University of Manchester and the University of Leeds.

Spencer Coles, commercial director at MPW said guaranteed progression to a large group of universities in the UK will be an asset for the school’s international students.

“There is such a variety of foundation programmes in the market,” he said. “Offering a high quality programme in a school setting sets us apart and will be a real benefit for students – and their parents.”

MPW has campuses in London, Birmingham and Cambridge, and each year teaches over 1,000 students, of which one third are international.

At the end of last year, Kaplan International agreed to acquire the sixth form college group, for an undisclosed amount. The deal closed at the end of January.

In addition to MPW, NCUK has also partnered with Astrum Education, INTO and Malvern House to provide pathway programmes.

NCUK was established over 25 years ago and now has around 30 study centres in 13 different countries.

At the end of 2014, it added two international collaborations to its portfolio: an in-country partnership with a language school brand in Malta and a scholarship programme for Nigerian students to study in the UK.
