NAFSA, Association of International Educators and organiser of the largest event in the international education calendar, has unveiled a new President, Fanta Aw, who will take over the position from January 2013. Ms Aw currently works at American University in Washington, DC, and will be replacing Meredith McQuaid, who remains on the Board as a Member-at-Large.

Aw is Assistant Vice President of Campus Life, overseeing international student services, and she regularly presents on this topic and campus interntionalisation efforts.

She will be joined by Sandy Soohoo-Refaei, from Linfield College in Oregon, who assumes the position of Vice President for Member Relations.

Also represented on the Board next year will be Members-at-Large, Simon Adams, Mell Bolen, Arthur Dunning, William R Holmes and Debra W Stewart.

A full bio on the board members can be viewed here. The association also announced new national Chair-Elects of various development committees, all of whom are in position as a result of elections that took place in September.

McQuaid commented that the association sought “a flexible, focused, and engaged leadership group with the ability to guide a dynamic association toward its greater strategic goals and to strengthen both the association and its members.”
