The London School of Commerce (LSC), one of Europe’s largest MBA providers, has opened a campus in Floriana, Malta. A fully-fledged higher education campus, LSC Malta will include seven classrooms and a fully stocked library, accommodating around 750 students.

“It’s a very attractive study destination. All the pieces fit in”

The first cohort of around 50 students will enrol in July, followed by a larger intake in September.

Malta’s higher education infrastructure and welcoming government policy make it an attractive country for expansion, Centre Manager Maurice Rizzo told The PIE News, while being an English-speaking country is a major selling point for students.

“It’s a very attractive study destination,” he commented. “All the pieces fit in.”

Programmes on offer, all of which are accredited by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education in Malta, include LSC’s flagship MBA programme and will later extend to undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering business, management and accountancy.

LSC in Malta“Our global mission is to provide high-quality, flexible educational programmes at competitive prices, allowing students to achieve professional qualifications efficiently,” Lord John Tomlinson of Walsall, chair of LSC’s advisory committee, said at LSC Malta’s inauguration this month, which was attended by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and British High Commissioner Robert Luke.

The expansion has been prompted partly by visa restrictions facing international students coming to the UK, Rizzo explained.

“There have been some constraints, although LSC has a very tight admissions system,” he added.

Inaugurating the campus, the Prime Minister said that dialogue between LSC and the Maltese government this year have been “excellent”.

He added that the new partnership will attract more talent and further enhance Malta’s image as the island strives to become “a buzzing centre of academic excellence and an educational hub” similar to Singapore or Dubai.

LSC Malta joins overseas campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Bangalore, Colombo, Dhaka and Belgrade, bringing the LSC Group’s total number of students to around 5,000.
