Top education agents from Russia, Ukraine and Turkey have said they will more aggressively promote Canada and Canadian institutions according to an Agent Satisfaction Survey, part of a six month follow-up to Languages Canada’s trade mission to the regions last October.
The trade mission brought together 20 Canadian language programmes and 60 agencies, with a view towards increasing the number of international students studying English and French in Canada. 96.2% of the agents said the trade mission was excellent or very good.
“The trade mission will go a long way to increase the number of language students from Eastern Europe studying in Canada,” said Gonzalo Peralta, Languages Canada’s executive director.
“Currently Canada only receives a fraction of students from these markets, and yet we offer some of the finest accredited language educations programmes in the world and great support for educational agencies and students," he said. "This is the first step for Languages Canada to help build ties and increase numbers from these regions.”
The survey also revealed that 100% of those surveyed would like to be invited to a similar event, 80.8% participated in the trade mission for its networking opportunities, and 73.1% participated for the opportunity to meet with embassy officials.
"The survey also illustrates the importance of following–up on these trade missions"
“Given results are typically not of the immediate nature, the survey results also illustrates the importance of following–up on these trade missions as well as all other marketing activities the association undertakes," added Paralta.
