International House World Organisation has welcomed its second affiliate school in Thailand. IH Chiang Mai is the group’s second school in Thailand and brings IHWO’s total portfolio of schools to 159.
The new school opened in January, 12 years after its counterpart in Bangkok.
“Being part of the International House network helps us develop our school to reach new levels of distinction within the regions”
“We decided to open a new school in Chiang Mai in order to offer teacher training and Study Holiday students the full experience of Thailand – both the chaotic, wonderful Bangkok and the stunning scenery of Chiang Mai,” commented Danny Willcocks, director of both schools.
IH Chiang Mai has been providing teacher training for ESOL CELTA in Thailand since 2008, but the new centre will offer a broad range of English and Thai courses including IHWO’s Study Holiday Thailand programme; exam preparation; business English; maths, science and other academic subjects; and other teacher training courses including the DELTA.
At the moment the school trains around 28 CELTA candidates monthly.
“Being part of the International House network helps us develop our school to reach new levels of distinction within the regions,” Willcocks said.
Located 20 minutes outside the centre of Thailand’s second largest city, the campus has a school, a restaurant and a water tower as well as a hotel under construction.
“Often called the ‘Rose of the North’, Chiang Mai is a cultural and natural wonderland, boasting historic temples and bustling night bazaars surrounded by breath-taking mountains, lush forests and idyllic waterfalls,” he added.
