A video promoting the next ICEF conference taking place in Perth has enticed viewers to come and see “the best Western Australia has to offer”.

The state’s minister for international education David Templeman filmed the video from one of Perth’s most famous locations, Cottesloe Beach, showcasing to agents just what the area has to offer international students.

“From experience in the tourism sector, we understand that once an agent visits WA, they instantly fall in love and find it easy to sell the attributes of the education sector of WA,” Derryn Belford, StudyPerth CEO, said on the video.

Originally created with collaboration from StudyPerth to show delegates at ICEF Berlin – in preparation for hosting ICEF ANZA in Perth in April 2023 – it has now been modified to use through EDM communications to amplify the province’s educational offerings to agents.

“There are so many reasons why Perth is a great place to study, and visit,” Templeman says in the video.

“Perth is blessed with the most spectacular coastline, we’re surrounded by nature, and have some pretty amazing wildlife that I’m sure you’ll love to meet,” he continued.

It comes just two months after it was announced education agents enrolling foreign students at WA institutions over the next year will receive $10m as part of the state’s multi-million dollar investment in its sector.

The video also highlights how WA is home to the world’s oldest continuing culture, the Whadjuk Noongar people. It says how the people have been caring for Australia for “45,000 years”.

“We invite you to learn about their amazing history and traditions when you visit us here in April,” Templeman added.

“We understand that once an agent visits WA, they instantly fall in love and find it easy to sell”

With a humorous side to it, Templeman is also sporting a pair of swimming trunks while on the beach, and implores visitors to pack their beach wear, including their thongs – the Australian slang for flip flops.

“We wanted to create a video that represented the laconic, laid-back nature of Western Australians, whilst also showcasing one of our famous coast backdrops,” Fionna Brazier, StudyPerth’s destination marketing manager commented on the creation of the video.

During ICEF Berlin, the video also included a message to take part in a special selfie competition.

Delegates were encouraged to take a selfie in front of one of ICEF’s beach backdrops at the conference to win a scenic helicopter ride over Perth.

StudyPerth also said that follow-up editions are also in the works, so before ICEF ANZA takes place in Perth they may be more promotion videos from Cottesloe Beach to come.
