In a recent PIE Chat Live webinar, we explored how Perlego is helping universities by supporting student satisfaction, inclusion, and widening participation strategies.

Decolonising curriculums

Traditional curriculums often lack perspectives from underrepresented voices. Perlego’s vast range of titles from over 8,000 publishers helps universities with decolonisation programs by providing unlimited access to global perspectives.

Our library includes resources from diverse authors, enabling institutions to build curriculums that reflect the diverse backgrounds of their students, empowering educators and students to explore new ideas and challenge traditional narratives – all within a single platform.

Accessibility for every learner

At the heart of Perlego’s mission is ensuring that all students can engage with learning in ways that suit their unique needs. Our platform is designed to be inclusive, offering a suite of accessibility features that break down barriers to education.

Flexible e-reader

Our e-reader is highly adaptable, giving users control over how they read, from the size or font of the text to the background of the screen. It’s available on mobile devices as well as laptops and desktop computers, making it easy to use wherever you need to study. Mobile access also brings offline functionality.

We know not all students have consistent internet access. With offline functionality, students can download their resources and study wherever they are, at their own pace.

The range of features available also support a range of learning styles, and have shown a clear impact on our users:

  • Read Aloud: Converts text to speech, making it easier for students with dyslexia or cognitive disabilities to follow along. This feature has transformed how many of our users engage with content, with those adopting Read Aloud reading 33% longer and 20% more content on average.

“I am dyslexic and have used many features like this. Yours is the best I have used.” – Student user

  • BeeLine Reader: Adds a colour gradient to text, helping students with dyslexia, ADD, or ADHD read faster and more accurately. BeeLine users read 19% more on average.

“The new font colouring is great! It really does help read faster and stay engaged.” – Student user

  • Open Dyslexic Font: Thousands of students have adopted this font, designed to make reading more accessible for those with dyslexia.

“Not only has Perlego saved me a fortune on academic books, but it also has a dyslexia font which I have found an invaluable tool for learning.” – Student user

AI-Powered Research Tools

Navigating a library of over a million titles can feel overwhelming, which is why we’ve integrated AI tools to streamline the research process.

Perlego’s Research Assistant allows students to use natural language queries to find relevant insights quickly and effectively. By surfacing key excerpts and providing contextual information, this tool transforms how learners approach research.

We understand that institutions have unique approaches to the way their students and staff use AI. In order to respect this, Research Assistant is available as an opt-in feature for institutions. This empowers universities to adopt AI tools on their terms, aligning with their unique policies.

Shaping the future of education

By combining diverse content, accessibility tools, and AI-driven innovation, Perlego is proud to help universities foster inclusion and widen participation. We’re committed to creating a world where every learner has the resources they need to succeed.
