Dutch student rental listings startup Housing Anywhere has raised €5m in Series A funding that will be used to fuel its continuing expansion into Western Europe and the US.
The funding comes from Netherlands-based venture capital firm henQ, which has also invested in Housing Anywhere previously, and from Real Web, which operates immobiliare.it, a real estate website in Italy and Poland.
“Real Web possess a wealth of experience in the online housing market and we can learn a lot from them”
The funding will help the Rotterdam-based company reach its target of operating in 100 countries by 2018.
“It’s very valuable to us that a major international company like Real Web has joined us. They possess a wealth of experience in the online housing market and we can learn a lot from them,” Housing Anywhere’s founder, Niels Van Deuren, commented.
The company also plans to hire new staff to fuel its ongoing expansion.
HousingAnywhere.com lists commercial housing properties and also facilitates short-term rental swaps, so exchange students can live overseas without giving up their existing tenancy agreements.
The website currently lists 44,996 places to rent for the upcoming semester in 239 cities and 44 countries across the globe.
