Study search platform Hotcourses Group has expanded its offering to include a transnational education course search, the company has announced.

The addition of 3,400 TNE programs allows students to search for courses in their own country, or overseas, with a degree awarded from a foreign university.

The company said it has included the courses in response to the growing demand for this type of degree around the world.

“We sought to offer information and guidance for students who want to consider these types of study options”

A Hotcourses survey found that over a third (35%) of 2,042 respondents considered studying for an international qualification either “wholly or partly in their home country”, according to Andrew Wharton, chief innovation officer at Hotcourses Group.

“As a result, we sought to offer information and guidance for students who want to consider these types of study options,” he told The PIE News.

“And so began the project to create the world’s first searchable database of TNE study opportunities.”

The 3,400 programs are offered from 432 education providers spanning 62 countries.

Malaysia, Singapore, China and the UAE accounted for a large proportion of where these TNE courses are taught, with the UK, the US and Australia being the top countries which offer the TNE accredited courses in overseas countries.

For the UK alone, the number of students undertaking a UK program overseas hit 663,915 – exceeding the number of international students studying in the UK.

Hotcourses Group has also embedded a chatbot into its website, allowing students to ask TNE related questions, which helps users to “navigate choice with greater speed and personalisation,” said Wharton.

The addition of these TNE programs brings the number of listed courses across Hotcourses Group’s websites to 352,202.
