guard.me donates CAN$500k to int’l student support

Sheridan College in Ontario has received a donation of CAN$500,000 from international insurance company guard.me, to support its growing number of international students.

The money, which will be provided over five years, will financially support the expansion of Sheridan’s tutoring centre at its Davis Campus in Brampton, as well as fund bursaries and scholarships for international students.

“That is why guard.me International Insurance is contributing to the establishment of services specifically designed to enhance international students’ experience,” he added.

Sheridan College currently has over 4,500 international students (20% of its total student cohort) from around 80 different countries.

The guard.me Tutoring Centres will assist students in achieving their academic goals by providing one-to-one support in specific areas.

Jeff Zabudsky, President and CEO of Sheridan College described the donation as an “incredibly generous” gift “that will make a difference in so many lives.”

“guard.me understands the needs of international students, and goes above and beyond to provide worry-free services and advice, which eases the transition of international students to Sheridan,” he said.

guard.me also recently provided financial support for the Segal International Student Centre at Niagara College in Ontario, which provides frontline support to all international students at Niagara.

Founded in 1988, guard.me International Insurance is headquartered in Ontario, Canada and has over 400 partner agents, organisations and institutions globally. It has offices in Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa and Latin America.

Additionally, the company provides a number of scholarships and bursaries to its varied client institutions around the world.
