The GeoVisions Foundation has announced it will be working with Renzulli Learning to create a more personalised approach to teaching and learning English.

GeoVisions offers opportunities to go abroad and teach English, au pair, be a homestay tutor or a camp counsellor, as well as offering courses in TEFL certification. Each year they have between 500 and 600 participants.

“The student completes a brief profile, in their native language, which identifies their own learning style”

Renzulli Learning provides online curriculum software, with over one million students worldwide using the system in 15 languages.

Its work with GeoVisions uses differentiated instruction and identifies the strengths, interests and learning styles of students in order to match them with activities, including tailoring content to high achieving students, English language learners and those with special needs.

“The student completes a brief profile, in their native language, which identifies their own learning style, and that information is used by the teacher or tutor to create a classroom or tutoring curriculum for one or more students,” explained Kevin Morgan, chairman of The GeoVisions Foundation.

“It further draws from a database of thousands of individual and group activities, and the software pairs up those activities with the learning style of the individual students.”

GeoVisions’ executive director Randy LeGrant said that incorporating this technology into their teaching would be a “game-changer” in terms of “quality and consistency of instruction” and “differentiation of results for young people around the world learning English”.

“The introduction of critical thinking, creativity and teamwork to the basic concept of tutoring and teaching, will lead to a higher level of success among our language learners,” he added.
