Galileo Global Education, a group that focuses on assisting students gain access to arts and management HE courses, has acquired three Laureate Education Inc. owned schools in a deal worth €225 million.

The institutions are in Italy and Cyprus, and an Italian sub-division of the Galileo brand is planned as part of the deal.

The agreement includes the take-over of Vuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano and Domus Academy in Italy and the European University Cyprus.

“All the schools involved have a very high percentage of foreign students, especially Istituto Marangoni”

In addition, Galileo Global Education will create Gruppo Galileo Italia, which will be headed by Roberto Riccio, who has previously been CEO of Milanese fashion and design school, and Galileo group member, Gruppo Istituto Marangoni.

“Galileo Global Education, one of the main players in private higher education, has taken a further step towards worldwide leadership,” said Roberto Riccio.

“In Italy, a learning centre has been created that guarantees high-quality training, in the name of excellence in the spheres of creation, innovation, management, art and culture.”

Galileo, which currently operates in eight countries, including France, India, China and Senegal,  has announced that the new acquisitions will maintain their own brand identity and courses offered will not change.

However, more collaboration between institutions will ensure high-quality education and create new learning opportunities for the creative sector.

“All the schools involved have a very high percentage of foreign students, especially Istituto Marangoni for which the 80% of the student body is made of students coming from 107 different countries,” a spokesperson from Istituto Marangoni told The PIE News.

The institutions held by the group currently teach on a wide range of subjects, from graphics and motion design, to gastronomy and tourism, and law and business qualifications.
