Dr Roger Fry CBE DLitt, founder of international school chain King’s Education Group, has been knighted by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II for services to British education internationally and UK-Spain relations.
Sir Roger founded King’s College in Madrid in 1969, after which five more schools were added to the group, mostly in Spain but also including the international boarding school, Saint Michael’s College in Tenbury Wells, UK. King’s now teaches more than 3,300 children.

Among his other achievements Sir Roger founded the British Hispanic Foundation in 1981, which promotes cultural understanding between the British and Spanish.
He was also chairman of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), which promotes and supports British schools around the world, for 15 years until 2011.
The knighthood follows awards of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1993, Commander of the Order of Civil Merit of Spain in 1994, and Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2003.
