British boarding school Epsom College has announced that it will open its first overseas campus at the Kuala Lumpur Education City (KLEC) development in Bandar Enstek, Malaysia this September.

ECiM will follow the Cambridge International Examination (CIE) syllabus with all teaching in English, and aims to continue the academic success of its sister UK school, whose pupils consistently achieve 84% A*-B grades at A Level.
The international boarding and day school will teach pupils aged 3-18 years, with up to 90% of the senior pupils boarding. Modelled on the British college, it will have a traditional House system, designed to foster “a strong feeling of belonging and community”, said a spokesperson.
The first year’s intake will be limited to 200 students, though the campus will ultimately cater for around 900 senior school and 650 prep school pupils. Assessments are currently being held for this year’s intake.
The 50-acre campus, built on a green-field site at Bandar Enstek, 50km south of Kuala Lumpur, will soon open to parents of prospective pupils for tours and includes boarding houses, a medical centre and a sports hall and amphitheatre.
Links between the two schools in the UK and Malaysia will develop once ECiM is fully operational, including pupil and staff exchanges, shared projects and lesson teleconferencing.
ECiM’s newly appointed principle, Martin George, said that the school was “perfectly poised to provide world class education”.

The college was originally scheduled to open in June 2013, but its completion was postponed due to an unexpected delay in building development.
Funding from KLEC and Epsom College’s alumni network contributed to the RM140 million (USD$43m) investment used to build the campus.
KLEC is envisioned to be an international hub for international education in Malaysia, colocating international universities, local institutions of higher learning and primary & secondary schools together with commercial and residential areas of development.
